ReadGenie Supports Oklahoma’s Strong Readers Act
Oklahoma now ties grade promotion to reading proficiency, requires intervention plans within 30 days of an identified deficiency, and expects every district to staff reading intervention. ReadGenie helps your interventionists deliver more structured, corrective practice for the students who need it most.
The Strong Readers Act Raised the Stakes. Practice Volume Is Where Districts Win.
With SB 1778, signed in April 2026, Oklahoma committed to the strongest early literacy law in the country: statewide screening, Student Literacy Intervention Plans within 30 days, science of reading instruction across three tiers, and, beginning in 2027-2028, third grade retention for students who cannot demonstrate reading proficiency. Every district must now employ a reading specialist, a reading interventionist, or staff with an early literacy micro-credential.
That one required specialist cannot personally deliver all the practice struggling readers need, and retention stakes make every practice opportunity between now and third grade count. ReadGenie multiplies your interventionist’s reach. Your educators choose the skill, ReadGenie generates aligned decoding, spelling, word reading, and decodable passage practice, students practice with corrective feedback, and educators get evidence back before the next session and for the SLIP file.

Strong Readers Act Alignment at a Glance
Where ReadGenie Fits, Honestly
ReadGenie is:
Supplemental, skill-aligned independent practice for students receiving Tier 2/3 reading intervention. The educator selects the skill, students practice with corrective feedback, and educators get evidence before the next session.
ReadGenie is not:
A universal or dyslexia screener, a Tier 1 core curriculum, or a replacement for your intervention program, your reading specialist, or your interventionists. Screening and core instruction requirements are met by the tools your district selects under OSDE guidance; ReadGenie sits alongside those choices as practice capacity for the students screening identifies.
How Oklahoma Districts Fund ReadGenie
Districts typically fund ReadGenie through existing allocations, no competitive application required.
Title I, Part A
Supports supplemental reading practice for struggling readers in schoolwide and targeted assistance programs. ReadGenie adds practice capacity that displaces no existing expenditure.
IDEA Part B and CEIS
Supports students with IEPs working toward reading goals, and the 15 percent CEIS set-aside can serve Tier 2/3 students not yet identified for special education. Student-level usage data supports CEIS tracking and reporting.
Strong Readers Act Fund
Oklahoma’s $43.75 million literacy fund directs 30 percent toward districts with students receiving Tier 2 and Tier 3 support, allocated by the number of students identified for intervention. Confirm specific purchases against the OSDE Strong Readers Funding Checklist and your district’s approved Strong Readers Plan.
Title II-A and Title IV-A
Title II-A can support the sustained educator data-use training that accompanies implementation. Title IV-A can fund licenses under the effective use of technology priority.
Allowability determinations rest with your district’s federal programs office and OSDE guidance. A vendor-prepared allowable use memo and ESSA Tier 4 evidence statement are available on request.
